چکیده

Many high-gain free electron lasers worldwide are planning to incorporate seeding setups into their day-to-day operation. These techniques provide both longitudinal and transverse coherence extended control of the output laser radiation spectral properties. However, wavelength repetition rate strongly depend on properties seed system. With peak power required for successful seeded operation, it is currently not possible increase an extent that matches bunch superconducting accelerators. Here, we investigate advantages a modification standard setups, by combining with so-called optical klystron. this new setup, decrease requirements therefore, systems can at same wavelength. We show simulation results in harmonic generation (HGHG) setup range harmonics (8th 15th) verify reduction Optical Klystron HGHG scheme. Finally, comment stability proposed jitter sources shot-to-shot fluctuations compare

High-gain Harmonic-generation Free-electron Laser

A high-gain harmonic-generation free-electron laser is demonstrated. Our approach uses a laser-seeded free-electron laser to produce amplified, longitudinally coherent, Fourier transform-limited output at a harmonic of the seed laser. A seed carbon dioxide laser at a wavelength of 10.6 micrometers produced saturated, amplified free-etectron laser output at the second-harmonic wavelength, 5.3 mi...

High-gain harmonic-generation free-electron laser seeded by harmonics generated in gas.

The injection of a seed in a free-electron laser (FEL) amplifier reduces the saturation length and improves the longitudinal coherence. A cascaded FEL, operating in the high-gain harmonic-generation regime, allows us to extend the beneficial effects of the seed to shorter wavelengths. We report on the first operation of a high-gain harmonic-generation free-electron laser, seeded with harmonics ...

First ultraviolet high-gain harmonic-generation free-electron laser.

We report the first experimental results on a high-gain harmonic-generation (HGHG) free-electron laser (FEL) operating in the ultraviolet. An 800 nm seed from a Ti:sapphire laser has been used to produce saturated amplified radiation at the 266 nm third harmonic. The results confirm the predictions for HGHG FEL operation: stable central wavelength, narrow bandwidth, and small pulse-energy fluct...
